Dec 29 & 30 on Murray

Postby Jbird » Mon Jan 04, 2010 6:21 pm

Whelp... almost laid down a skunk on the 29th. Stainline was down to the boat ramp almost - there at Dreyer. Fished till lunch, ended up with 1 keeper below Gap in clearer water. Close call... Wed it was own like a pot of kneckbones. They were schoolin out in front of boat ramp - between there, Gap, and Macedonia Island. Birds were working them over well. Bunch of 21 and 22 inch fish, 2-8lbers.. Late bite; didn' t turn on until around 10:30, stayed on them till I left around 12:00... Cloudy, a little wind - seemed to be the ticket! Fish on!

I hear ya J-Bird! Glad to see some nicer fish coming back out of that lake. Lake Murray used to be my fav place to striper fish...but no more! I'd fish Chesapeake Bay/Rudee Inlet everyday if I could! :yahoo:

Nother Poor Day on Murray... Went today around 9:30; was hoping to catch the front moving in. Blue-bird skies till around 2:30, then the clouds rolled across. Just as soon as the clouds came in, the birds picked up and started diving. I never saw the fish, they was diving on dying bait fish. The water is stained and colder than I have ever seen it on Murray - 44 degrees. Managed 2 pecker heads, and had a double digit that I couldn't turn, before the hook popped out. Better than a day at the office though! :banghead: :yahoo:
